The following data offers a snapshot into the weekly trends of the top industries being targeted by phishing attacks from December 3, 2017 – December 9, 2017

Weekly Phishing Activity: December 11, 2017

 

This week, we saw an increase in overall phishing activity – 15% – for the top 20 brands we monitor. With the largest increase in activity being from Computer Software and the largest decrease being from Telecommunications. Only three industries saw a decrease in phishing this week.

The top five industries that saw the largest increases in phishing activity were:

  1. Computer Software (>105%)
  2. Social Networking  (>40%)
  3. Internet Information Services (>20%)
  4. Banking (>15%)
  5. eCommerce (>10%)

 

Only three industries saw decreases in phishing activity: 

  1. Telecommunications (>20%)
  2. Storage & Systems Management Software (>15%)
  3. Delivery Service (>1%)

 

By pulling information from major Internet Service Providers (ISP), partners, clients, feeds, and our own proprietary honey pots and web crawlers, we are able to get a 360-degree view of the phishing landscape. The percentages posted are based on the sum of the phishing threats of the top 20 brands, and do not include anything below the top 20 threshold.
