The following data offers a snapshot into the weekly trends of the top industries being targeted by phishingPhishing: The fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers. attacks for the week of May 28 – June 3, 2017.

LookingGlass Weekly Phishing Activity: June 6, 2017

After 2 consecutive weeks of being on the top 20, Dating Site fell short with no brand within the sector on the list.

This week, we saw an overall >80% increase in phishing activity. Of note, Internet Search & Navigation Services saw a >340% increase, followed by Storage and Systems Management Software at >305% and Internet and Information Services at >165%.

Only two industries saw decreases: Computer Hardware (>30%) and Electronic Payment Systems (>10%).

By pulling information from major Internet Service Providers (ISP), partners, clients, feeds, and our own proprietary honey pots and web crawlers, we are able to get a 360-degree vide of the phishing landscape. The percentages posted are based on the sum of the phishing threats of the top 20 brands, and do not include anything below the top 20 threshold.
