The following data offers a snapshot into the weekly trends of the top industries being targeted by phishing attacks from December 24, 2017 – December 30, 2017
This week, we saw a large decrease in overall phishing activity – 20% – for the top 20 brands we monitor. With the largest increase in activity being from Telecommunications and the largest decrease being from eCommerce. Only three industries saw an increase in phishing this week.
Only three industries saw increases in phishing activity:
- Telecommunications (>90%)
- Internet Search & Navigation Services (>20%)
- Electronic Payment Services (>15%)
The top 5 industries that saw decreases in phishing activity were:
- eCommerce (>100%)
- Computer Software (>50%)
- Storage & Systems Management Software (>40%)
- Social Networking (>35%)
- Internet Information Services (>28%)
By pulling information from major Internet Service Providers (ISP), partners, clients, feeds, and our own proprietary honey pots and web crawlers, we are able to get a 360-degree view of the phishing landscape. The percentages posted are based on the sum of the phishing threats of the top 20 brands, and do not include anything below the top 20 threshold.
