The following data offers a snapshot into the weekly trends of the top industries being targeted by phishing attacks for the week of January 8 – January 14, 2017.

Weekly Phishing Activity: January 17, 2017

This week, two industries – Internet Information Services and Internet Search & Navigation Services – made over half of the chart, making them the top two sector to be targeted by phishing attack.

This week in phishing activity, we saw a >50% increase in overall phishing activity for the top 20 brands we’re tracking, grouped by industry. Internet Search and Navigation Services saw the biggest increase at >105%, followed by Internet and Information Services at >85% and Telecommunications at >65%.

The industries with the biggest decreases in activity were Social Networks (>40%), eCommerce (>15%), and Computer Hardware (>10%).

Our Phishing Report offers a snapshot into the weekly trends of the top industries that are being targeted by phishing attacks. By pulling information from major ISPs, partners, clients, feeds, and our own proprietary honeypots and web crawlers, we are able to get a 360-degree view of the phishing landscape. The percentages posted on our blog are based on the sum of the phishing threats of the top 20 brands, and do not include anything below the top 20 threshold.
