The following data offers a snapshot into the weekly trends of the top industries being targeted by phishing attacks for the week of April 9 – April 15, 2017.

LookingGlass Weekly Phishing Report: April 17, 2017

This week, we saw an increase in phishing activity for the top 20 brands we’re tracking, grouped by industry. Overall activity increased >20%. The biggest increase we saw was in the Electronic Payment Systems industry at >175%. Other industries that saw an increase in phishing activity include eCommerce at >50% and Telecommunications at >15%.

Decreases in phishing activity included: Internet and Information Services (>40%), Banking (>25%) and Dating Sites (>20%).

Our Phishing Report offers a snapshot into the weekly trends of the top industries that are being targeted by phishing attacks. By pulling information from major ISPs, partners, clients, feeds, and our own proprietary honeypots and web crawlers, we are able to get a 360-degree view of the phishing landscape. The percentages posted on our blog are based on the sum of the phishing threats of the top 20 brands, and do not include anything below the top 20 threshold.
